Project Risk Register Toolkit

A risk register is broader than the NEC Early Warning Register. It's project management standard rather than contractually mandated, and it should capture everything that could derail or accelerate the project — including opportunities, not just threats. Done properly, it's a live document reviewed monthly with the whole project team, owned by the PM, and feeding the monthly board report.

This toolkit gives you a full risk register with probability × impact scoring, response strategies, pre and post-mitigation views, expected monetary value (EMV), and a 5×5 heatmap that visualises the risk landscape. It tracks both threats and opportunities — many registers ignore opportunities, which means projects miss the upside they could have captured.

The Action Tracker keeps the mitigation actions visible and accountable, with owners and due dates. The Top 10 Risks tab uses LARGE + INDEX + MATCH to rank automatically by EMV — no manual re-sorting. The dashboard shows the headline KPIs and EMV by category.
